EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

Train for a spacewalk on land or under water.

Neutral Buoyancy (Water-based) Spacewalk Training
Train for a spacewalk under water in the neutral buoyancy “hydrolab” under the direction of dozens of trainers, including several professional divers. The hydrolab training features the following:

Full-scale mock-up of the International Space Station
Neutral buoyancy to roughly simulate weightlessness outside of the ISS
Learn how to operate an Orlan spacewalk spacesuit used by the cosmonauts

Ground-based Spacewalk Training
Train for a spacewalk on land in this ground-based training that simulates what it feels like to move around outside of the ISS while tethered to it in an Orlan spacewalk spacesuit.
